The Navajo Nation
The Navajo Nation is the largest reservation by land area in the United States,
situated on over twenty-seven thousand square miles of land overlapping
the states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. Over 150,000 Navajo people,
known traditionally as Diné (means "The People"), live on the reservation.
Another 150,000 or so live off the reservation. The Navajo Nation is home
to beautiful Canyon de Chelly, where Diné hid to avoid the Long Walk in the
1860's. The Navajo Nation's culture, history and language are rich and complex
and we are proud of our Navajo Code Talkers that served in WWII.
